Taproom Management
Your main goal as an Overflow Taproom manager is ensuring consistent quality service, fostering employee loyalty and dependability and accomplishing ongoing operational duties effectively and efficiently.
Essential duties and responsibilities of a taproom manager include, but are not limited to:
Resource management
- hiring, training and managing a team of service and maintenance staff
- establishing and maintaining an effective work structure for taproom resources
- preparing work schedules that will accommodate day-to-day service needs as well as peak hours, scheduled events and as cover contingency
- developing and conducting employee orientation/training programs and identifying potential additional learning needs for existing employees and new hires
- initiating team building exercises and employee incentives programs
- ensuring that all employees observe Company policy, adhere to health and safety regulations, comply with federal and provincial servicing control laws and regulations (AGCO) and practice serving guidelines set out by Smart Serve Ontario
- overseeing day-to-day service delivery while monitoring employee performance
- implementing a performance management strategy - setting goals, documenting achievements/challenges and offering constructive feedback
- reviewing/reconciling employee payment transactions and generating associated reports
- addressing employee conflicts, providing guidance on dispute resolution
Day to day operations
- analysing Company sales records, current market and industry trends and incorporating findings into business planning
- setting business objectives to stimulate revenue and enhance the Company’s financial health by identifying operational efficiencies to generate savings
- ensuring licenses/certificates are valid and in line with current laws and regulations
- updating service provider/supplier contracts and ensuring alignment with agreements
- identifying marketing needs/opportunities to generate further interest in the Company
- budgeting based on sales estimates, observing set operational allocation
- reviewing sales and beverage costs to ensure maximum highest profitability
- reporting to owners on budgeting, expenditures, staff performance, customer satisfaction and inventory
- maintaining advance level of proficiency with payment system and point-of-sale software
- ensuring proper cash management, report any accounting discrepancies, handling cash deposits
- establishing committees to devise innovative marketing ideas and propose strategy to owners
- ensuring quality control - tasting beer taps daily, verifying shelf life of consumables
Service Standards
- setting business objectives to maximize customer satisfaction
- resolving customer complaints promptly and according to company guidelines, briefing owners when necessary
- diffusing tense situations between customers or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, occasionally removing unruly customers when needed
- accommodating customer special needs or requests
Maintenance
- maintaining a safe and clean establishment/work environment - bar area, retail space, washrooms, stage area, private room
- establishing and enforcing safety controls for routine maintenance of taproom
- developing a routine maintenance schedule and task tracking system for employees
- coordinating required equipment/furniture/fixture repairs
- ensuring health regulations are being observed and identifying possible violations
Inventory monitoring/reporting
- establishing an inventory system to monitor product count and ensure adequate stock is maintained
- instituting controls preventing alcohol wastage or excess pouring
- instituting an alcohol level measuring and monitoring mechanism to limit shrinkage
- developing PAR tracking tool and align with trend/peak sales to determine minimum levels of stock required
Purchase orders/Service provider contracts
- developing standard procedures for inventory stock orders and coordinating delivery or pick-up
- completing supplier purchase orders/requests for estimates
- ensuring service contracts are being fulfilled, communicating with service provider, suppliers when required
- conducting cost analysis to identify potential savings
- tracking of goods delivery/receipt, coordinating storage/stocking
- entertaining potential supplier/service provider proposals and quotes, performing cost comparison
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent
Salary: $55,000.00 /year
